Safe space
Safe space policy
We want to create an inclusive, respectful, and safe environment where there is room for everyone – just as they are.
The purpose of our Safe Space Policy is to ensure that all members, teachers, employees, and partners have a positive experience when participating in our activities.
At the same time, we recognize the cultural roots of dance and are committed to preserving and respecting the styles we represent.
How we create a safe, inclusive, and positive community
We speak kindly to and about each other: We all come from different backgrounds and circumstances. It requires tolerance, patience, and consideration.
We respect and understand each other: It is important to recognize and accept both our own and others’ boundaries.
We help and support each other: We believe in the power of community – together we are stronger.
We learn and listen: Everyone can make mistakes – the most important thing is that we listen, reflect, and become wiser together.
We do not accept bullying, discrimination, or racism: This applies both on and off the dance floor.
Cultural respect and representation
Recognizing the origins of dance
Many of the styles we teach have deep cultural, historical, and social roots. We are committed to teaching these styles with integrity and cultural awareness, and we recognize the communities and traditions from which they originate.
Learning
We approach all dance styles with humility and a desire to learn. We understand the difference between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation, and we strive to educate our students about the cultural significance of the movements.
Lifting voices
We make space for voices from the cultures we represent. We value lived experience and want to lift up underrepresented communities in the dance world.

How we handle inquiries
The association’s management and board makes the decisions regarding violations of our Safe Space and Code of Conduct policies or otherwise inappropriate experiences.
Our approach to conflict management is based on dialogue and transparency. We will always reach out to the parties involved, so everyone has the opportunity to be heard, and we aim to ensure that the parties involved can continue to be part of the Global Kidz & World Dance Academy community, depending on the severity of the situation.
If a conflict cannot be resolved through dialogue, or if it is a serious violation, it may result in a warning or permanent exclusion from the association’s classes and activities. Criminal offenses will result in immediate exclusion.
We seek external consulting assistance when needed.
Focus on dance
At Global Kidz and World Dance Academy, dance is our unifying force.
We believe that dance creates community, joy, and understanding across cultures – and this is what we want to bring into everything we do.
